Social work team
Practice Learning Facilitator
Ruth started her professional life as a teacher but a number of life choices steered her in the direction of social care. She set up and managed a Shared Lives scheme, which is similar to a fostering scheme for vulnerable adults. More than 20 years on it’s still thriving.
Qualifying later as a social worker, she initially worked with older adults and learning disabled young people, later taking responsibility for managing a duty team. Her interest in education and working with young learners continued and she qualified to supervise and assess social work students on their work based placements.
She is delighted to work now for Hoople as Practice Learning Facilitator which entails her arranging work-based placements for student social workers from a number of Universities and HEIs. In this post, her two interests of social work and education have happily collided.
