Please don't discount part time workers!

Caroline Wadley, Recruitment Consultant at HoopleThe world of employment is changing. More people want flexible hours rather than a rigid Monday – Friday working pattern.

When advertising vacancies, employers always request 'flexibility' from potential applicants. But surely in return the employer should offer the same?

I talk to many prospective clients regarding their requirements and always encourage them to consider job share. Mostly the answer is no. Often I have two perfect candidates for a role but both are looking for part time hours.

There are many benefits for employers in employing staff on a job share basis:

  • Holiday/sickness cover
  • Benefit of two views or perspectives
  • Increased flexibility

At present I have over 20 excellent candidates with fantastic skills in administration, secretarial, finance and project management all needing or wanting part time hours.

So if you're struggling to fill that full time role, please do consider job share as I'm sure I have exactly the right candidates for your business!
