This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, registered nurse to play an instrumental role in developing a new service within Herefordshire Care Homes to meet the multiple, and often complex needs faced when caring for people affected by dementia.
Admiral Nurses are specialist nurses who work with and support families and carers of people with dementia. Working collaboratively with other professionals, Admiral Nurses seek to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and their carers. They use a range of interventions to help people live positively with the condition and develop skills to improve communication and maintain relationships.
This is a dual role that will include a proportion of their time based in the local community within an agreed area of Herefordshire. The role encompasses face to face clinical work with families and people with dementia and will involve consultancy work with care home staff and other professionals. You will be employed by Herefordshire Care Homes and will be supported by Dementia UK through Practice Development, Clinical Supervision, and Continuing Professional Development.
The successful applicant will have experience of working with older adults and in dementia care. They will need to have excellent communication skills, and be able to provide clinical leadership to other colleagues, working with a self-motivated and adaptable approach. The post holder will need to have the ability to work in a variety of settings including supporting carers and families individually, providing a consultancy role, running clinics and delivering teaching/training. They will need to be passionate about Dementia care and be prepared to provide specialist clinical dementia support within an organisation thatshares a philosophy of dignity and care.
Admiral Nursing is a challenging, demanding and often rewarding role. If you feel you have the skills and attributes to become an Admiral Nurse and would like to know more about the post please contact Karen Rogers on 07974 736169.
