Contract: Fixed-term (One Year)
Hours: 21.75 hours per week term time only
Monday to Thursday mornings in Year 4, Tuesday afternoon in Year 3/4, Wednesday afternoon Year 4 and Reception class all day Friday
Start date: 30th October 2017
Responsible to: Head Teacher/KS2 leader
Liaises with: Class teacher

St Mary’s C of E Primary School, Credenhill is a good school that is part of a happy and vibrant community. The Governors would like to appoint a Teaching Assistant Level 1.

Key responsibilities:

  • To work under the guidance of the class teacher with an agreed system of supervision;

  • To implement agreed work programmes/intervention strategies with groups of pupils both in and outside the classroom and assist the teacher in evaluating their impact.

  • This will also involve assisting the teacher in planning and the management/preparation of resources;

  • Work with teachers in planning, evaluating and adjusting work as necessary;

  • Monitor and evaluate pupils’ response to these learning activities through observation and recording achievement against pre-determined learning objectives;

  • Provide feedback to teachers and pupils.

  • Be responsible for keeping records and updating systems as required by the teacher;

  • Promote positive values and support the school’s church ethos;

  • Promote positive attitudes to learning and good pupil behaviour in line with school policy;

  • Liaise with parents, staff and outside agencies where necessary

  • Establish positive and productive working relationships with pupils and actively promote the inclusion of all pupils

  • Be aware and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, Health and safety, confidentiality and data protection.

  • Report concerns to appropriate person.

  • Attend, and participate in meetings and training activities as required.

  • Undertake planned supervision of pupils on visits and trips.

  • To undertake other duties and activities within the scope of the post as directed by the class teacher.

Person specification:

  • Good level of education to include GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with both adults and children
  • Good ICT skills – can also use ICT effectively to support learning
  • Ability to work independently and use own initiative.
