Job details

Start date: September 2022

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Subject Leader for Art in a department which is committed to providing high-quality teaching which challenges, interests, and supports our students.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified specialist to lead the department and to teach students of all abilities at KS3, KS4, and KS5.  The ability to teach Photography at KS5 would be an advantage, but is not essential.

John Masefield was recognised by OFSTED in September 2017 as a good school. The inspection found that staff showed a genuine desire for pupils to be safe and happy, and that the school provided high-quality pastoral care for pupils, especially for those who are vulnerable.  Teaching was found to be strong in most subjects and that consequently, the great majority of pupils achieve very well as a result.

The school has excellent pastoral care based around small tutor groups, and there are many enrichment opportunities for students.

If you wish to apply for this post, please submit a completed application form and a letter of application of no more than one side of A4, summarising your Leadership and Management experience so far, focusing on the successes you have achieved and the strategies you have used.

JMHS is committed to the protection and safety of its students, and therefore all candidates will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at Enhanced Level.
