We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in a Key Stage 2 Class.

Minimum 15 hours per week in the first instance with the possibility of increasing to a maximum of 25 hours per week.

We would welcome applicants who can provide 1:1 support for a child with evolving medical, physical and emotional needs. Applicants would need to be: kind, positive, reflective, resilient, respectful and adaptable in a changing situation.

 

Ideally must have:

 

  • Have a Certificate in Learning Support (or equivalent) or be prepared to enrol on an equivalent course alongside the role.

  • Have experience of working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, preferably with intimate care experience.

  • Be able to enthuse and inspire children with a patient, friendly and encouraging approach

  • Be able to raise and sustain high standards in the classroom environment.

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with the pupil, staff and parents.

  • Be adaptable and intuitive in their approach to supporting the pupil.

  • Be able to work flexibly as part of a friendly, close-knit team

  • Be able to promote the pupil’s self-esteem and independence

In addition to the above, candidates will ideally:

 

  • Have experience of providing support on a 1:1 basis.

  • Have experience of liaising with other professionals, e.g. during therapy sessions, as part of ongoing training or through attendance at review meetings

  • Be willing to be trained in and to use other specialisms (equivalent to those above), which are relevant to the pupil’s needs.
