The St David’s Centre is a vibrant Pupil Referral Centre for 14-16 year old students who, for a variety of reasons, do not attend mainstream school. You will work in a warm, welcoming environment where every member of staff has the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of some of the County’s most spirited young people.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person to teach Maths from Entry Level to GCSE, including Functional Skills. The majority of students have low ability levels in all subjects, and may even need assistance with basic reading and writing skills. The average level of pupils on entering the school is a national curriculum level 4 with some being well below this. The role links closely with the SENCo to assess each pupil’s requirements.
You will need to have:
Qualified Teacher Status;
Continuous Professional Development relevant to the subject;
Experience of teaching Maths to young people with SEN, including Behavioural, Emotional and Social needs (BESN) in mainstream and/or specialist settings;
Experience in the management of provision for young people with SEN.
Experience of / Willingness to teach other subjects such as PSHE, Personal Development, Workskills, and BTEC topics.
Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted to arrange an interview.
Interview Date: week commencing 17th July 2017
Herefordshire Pupil Referral Service is committed to the protection and safety of its pupils and therefore all candidates will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at Enhanced Level.
