Link Worker – Building Better Opportunities

Hours: Full time (37.5) or part time options of 30 or 25 hours

Pay: £18,478 - £19,380 per annum or pro rata

Job Type: Fixed term contract, initially until 31 December 2019.

The Building Better Opportunities project brings together funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund (ESF) to help tackle the poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in England.  Run in conjunction with The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the project aims to provide pre-employment support within Herefordshire for disadvantaged people aged 19 and over who are not in work. Vennture is one of a number of partners who will assist in providing access to a wide and diverse range of volunteering opportunities enabling more disadvantaged people to move into further education or training having acquired basic skills, increased confidence and motivation through personalised support that will equip them with the abilities needed to move toward and into employment.

Using our high impact relational approach, Vennture requires an additional link worker to work in the BBO project to come alongside people who have multiple needs who are not in work. You will work directly with individuals and support our new interactive group sessions. We follow a proven process that helps individuals face their problems, realise their own resources and overcome their barriers to worklessness. Our vision is to ‘Help people to help themselves’ and allow them to create their own progress path to move forward.

The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to manage a demanding workload and most important of all – genuine hard-edged compassion and understanding. It requires a resourceful, creative approach to problem solving and the ability to stick with people through thick and thin. You will be working in a supportive team, with strong, appropriate professional supervision and clear ethos based on ‘Loving People Better’.

Vennture works with people of all faiths, and none. Our employees and volunteers are drawn from all sectors of society. Regardless, a Christian vision, ethos and principles underpin the way Vennture operates, and it is expected that the successful applicant will have empathy with and be able to embrace our Venn values of Responsibility, Family, Industry and Enterprise. They will connect to our sense of purpose and vision and be able to integrate swiftly and successfully into our hard working and friendly team and enjoy being part of a challenging and ground-breaking initiative.
