WMWA - Exciting New Opportunities!
Despite the constraints of the current emergency, West Mercia Women’s Aid (WMWA) are working hard with Herefordshire Council and other local partners to continue to provide much-needed support for those affected by domestic abuse.
We are expanding our portfolio of safe accommodation, and making sure that support services for those facing a number of challenges have the specialist domestic abuse support that they need.
We are also ensuring that support is available for all children and young people who have been affected by domestic abuse in Hereford.
This work is commissioned for 12 months by Herefordshire Council, with funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG)
This post will require use of safe imaginative and innovative approaches during the COVID-19 crisis.
WMWA is committed to being inventive and pro-active in promoting strategies to prevent the escalation of domestic abuse during self-isolation to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT WORKER
Dispersed Accommodation (WMWA Band 4)
37 Hours Per Week : £23,097 p.a.
THE ROLE INVOLVES ….
Project managing the identification and establishment of additional units of safe refuge accommodation in Herefordshire
Ensuring all units are appropriate equipped
Welcoming new residents – provide emergency supplies and practical support
Assisting clients with applications for housing, benefits and grants
Day to day operation of the accommodation including record keeping, health and safety processes and co-ordination of general maintenance
Working in collaboration with other agencies and community groups
Engaging residents in ongoing to inform the shape of the service
YOU WILL HAVE ….
A track record of successful management and development in a hostel / accommodation environment
Experience of working within statutory and legal frameworks associated with the area of work
Experience of working with vulnerable people and a desire to make a difference in their lives
Good knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and safeguarding
Commitment to the values of empowerment and equality.
Strong interpersonal skills and good written/verbal communication skills
The ability to maintain clear professional boundaries
Car user essential
WMWA CAN OFFER YOU ….
37 Hours Per week– 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
25 days Annual leave, plus Bank Holidays.
Regular professional supervision and support.
