Job details

Herefordshire Pupil Referral Service (HPRS) provides education to pupils unable to attend mainstream school for various reasons.  The service is currently split over two sites located within Hereford – St David’s Centre (KS4) and The Aconbury Centre (KS3). We cater for 80 pupils with 24 places for pupils in Key Stage 3 based at The Aconbury Centre and 56 places at Key Stage 4 based at St David’s Centre.

HPRS provides a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment in which young people can grow as responsible, independent and self-confident learners. We are on an exciting journey of school improvement and have made rapid and significant improvements of which we are all very proud.

The service benefits from a supportive Management Committee, an effective Senior Leadership Team and a dynamic team of experienced, committed staff. We are now looking to recruit a School Business Manager to support the vision for the PRU and to work with the leadership team to lead the service forward in the next phase of its development.

We are looking for a SBM with excellent financial management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. A business/accounting qualification is desirable along with proven experience gained within a school environment. We are seeking a dynamic, organised multi tasker with effective communication skills, who is able to work alongside all stakeholders, including governors and senior management.

Working at both sites, the core purpose of this role includes managing and developing our financial systems and records, supporting HR systems and managing office functions. You will have overall line management responsibility for admin and school premises staff, and will manage the school site.

You must:

v  Have experience of operating in a school environment

v  Have excellent financial, organisational and communication skills and a track record of delivering value for money

v  Hold a Diploma/Certificate in School Business Management or equivalent

v  Be highly motivated and committed to team work
