Our Lady’s is a one-form entry Catholic primary school that sits in the southern side of the city of Hereford. There are currently 197 wonderful pupils on roll. This is an excellent opportunity for us to add to our existing team of committed and hard-working education support staff.

Our governors are keen to appoint a practitioner to provide support and guidance to children (and those engaged with them) by removing barriers to learning, in order to promote effective participation, enhance individual learning, raise aspirations and achieve full potential.

You will be engaged in a wide range of activities, including promoting attendance, working with individuals, groups, families, external agencies and supporting pupils. You will help to raise pupils’ confidence and self-esteem, promote positive behaviour, ensure emotional well-being and develop friendship groups. The ability to work as part of a team as well as under your own initiative is important. The successful candidate must be able to show excellent organisational and communication skills with both children and colleagues.

This person will need to:

  • demonstrate a high level of flexibility

  • establish a rapid rapport with colleagues and pupils

  • relish the opportunity to extend their skills and experience

  • offer high levels of emotional literacy and be able to understand and maintain safeguarding boundaries as well as empathise with and support others

  • have experience of supporting individuals and groups of pupils

  • uphold the Catholic ethos of our school

  • have good English communication skills

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with teachers and teaching assistants, members of the Senior Leadership Team and SENDCo as well as other members of the school staff.

At Our Lady’s you will find:

  • Our pupils’ behaviour to be excellent.

  • Our families to be supportive and positive.

  • Our staff and governors to be welcoming and friendly.

  • Our school to be a very happy, friendly and positive environment.

Our Lady’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All vacancies that involve working with children or vulnerable adults are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (formally Criminal Records) check at Enhanced Level.
