Leominster Primary School is seeking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and committed caretaker on a fixed term basis to cover sickness absence for one year, who can support and enhance our learning environment and oversee the day-to-day management of the school site, ensuring a high level of hygiene and safety is maintained. The role will also involve offering a caretaking service to our partner school, Wellington Primary.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Open the school in the morning, unset alarm, open doors and check all systems are operational
Overseeing contractors working on site.
Ensure that the site is clean and remains secure
Ensure compliance with all statutory and best practice requirements eg legionella testing, emergency lighting tests, weekly fire alarm tests
Undertake general caretaking and maintenance duties eg changing lightbulbs, collecting waste and refuse, carrying out temporary repairs, dealing with deliveries.
Work with the school cleaners to ensure internal and external areas remain tidy and safe
Ensure stock levels are maintained on items such as cleaning products, light bulbs and paints
Attend emergency call-outs to the school which may be in unsociable hours eg evenings and weekends
The successful candidate will:
Have good organisational skills
Communicate well and be confident managing others
Have good teamwork skills
Respect confidentiality and the potential sensititives of working in a school
Be able to drive to enable working between two school sites
Be able to demonstrate in their application that they can fulfil the main duties of the job description and person specification.
