We are seeking an Assistant Headteacher to lead the school’s SEND provision, Safeguarding arrangements and provision for disadvantaged and other vulnerable pupils to start at Easter 2019.  The successful candidate should have relevant and suitable qualifications, including the National SENCO Award and qualifications in educational testing for the purposes of Access Arrangements.

Leadership experience is also desirable as the successful candidate will be required to carry out additional leadership duties as directed by the Headteacher.

Key responsibilities of the post include:

  • Working with the Governing Body, Headteacher and other members of the Leadership Team to provide strategic direction for all aspects of SEND and Safeguarding at St Mary’s

  • To lead, motivate, support, challenge and develop staff to achieve the school’s targets, plans and objectives relating to SEND/Safeguarding

  • Line managing and appraising the work and effectiveness of the Teaching Assistants at St Mary’s

  • To deploy staff and resources efficiently and productively in line with the school’s objectives and financial plans

  • To secure and sustain effective learning and teaching, monitoring and evaluating the quality of education

  • To be accountable to the governors for the efficiency and effectiveness of the school

  • To develop a culture which promotes equality and inclusion and celebrates diversity in all aspects of the school’s activities

  • To develop external collaboration in order to enhance the performance of the school and improve its contribution to the wider community
