Behaviour Recovery Supervisor
37 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks of the year)
Part time would be considered
This vacant position represents an excellent opportunity to work in an ‘Outstanding’ Secondary School with an energetic and inspirational team of colleagues who are committed to supporting the pupils at our school. It represents an exciting pathway to anyone interested in working within the educational sector whilst receiving the relevant support and training in order to carry out the role successfully and effectively.
This post will involve the close supervision of pupils for whom it is necessary to spend short periods of time in Behaviour Recovery. This measure is put in place by the school to enable time for pupils to reflect and consider the behaviour that has led to their temporary removal from lessons or social time. At St Mary’s, Behaviour Recovery is very much aimed at being a supportive and restorative intervention.
Whilst in Behaviour Recovery, our pupils will complete a mixture of curriculum-based work, and where appropriate, short programmes and courses to educate them about certain issues and to support their good decision making in the future.
In addition to the supervision of pupils in Behaviour Recovery, this role will also include support for the pastoral team at St Mary’s. We have a dedicated team of 5 Heads of Year and a Pastoral manager working alongside each Key stage. The Behaviour Recovery post holder will offer administrative support to these colleagues and maintain essential records and logs relating to the respective behavioural/pastoral profiles within year groups. On occasion, there may be the requirement for some parental liaison as a follow-up to the support provided in Behaviour Recovery.
This role will also present opportunities for the post holder to assist with basic literacy interventions, for example through listening to pupils read and charting their progress.
We would welcome applications from anyone with experience of working within an educational setting, though this is not essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate a desire to work with and support our young people in order that they realise their full potential.
St Mary’s is a very close-knit community and we look forward to welcoming you into our team as we seek to maintain the highest standards of provision and support for our 750 pupils.
The School is committed to the protection and safety of its pupils and therefore all candidates will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at Enhanced Level.
