Level 3 Dental Nursing

Who is it for?

The Dental Nurse role complements the role of other dental professionals. One of the primary roles is to provide chair side support to dental professionals and deliver a high level of patient care.

This apprenticeship is suitable for those who are already working in a dental practice or who are hoping to move into this area.

What personal qualities will I need?

You will need to be interested in oral health and enjoy science. You should also have a calm and helpful manner and be able to relate to people from all walks of life, including children and those with special needs. You’ll also need to be a good team player.

Are there any entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements.

How long does it take?

Usually 18 months.

What kind of things will I learn?

For this apprenticeship, a wide range of knowledge, skills and behaviours will be developed.

You will work towards a qualification that has been approved by the General Dental Council as meeting the requirements for entry to the professional register. 

On completion of the apprenticeship you can register with the General Dental Council as a qualified Dental Nurse.
