Level 3 Health and Social Care

Hoople currently offers two Level 3 Health and Social Care apprenticeships:

  • Lead Care Worker (Standard)
  • Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Standard)

Level 3 Lead Care Worker

This apprenticeship is for those who wish to make a positive difference to the lives of those who are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. This could be in a residential or nursing home, domiciliary care, day centre or certain clinical healthcare settings. It could also include those who work as Lead Personal Assistant for one individual.

For this Advanced apprenticeship, you will be expected to exercise judgement and take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control. You will provide leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care delivery and will be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support.

The role will involve in some cases taking responsibility for the standard of care provided and the supervision of other care workers.

Apprentices undertaking this programme will study for a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults).

Further detailed information about this apprenticeship is available on the Government's website.

Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker

Senior Healthcare Support Workers help registered practitioners deliver healthcare services to people. Typical duties include carrying out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner. You could be working in a wide range of settings, for example a hospital, community, health or day care unit, operating theatre, nursing or care home.

For this Advanced Apprenticeship, you will be expected to provide high quality, compassionate healthcare, following standards, policies or protocols and always acting within the limits of your competence. You will be expected to use your knowledge, experience and understanding to take decisions and be accountable for your work. You may also be responsible for supervising or guiding less experienced staff in your team.

For this apprenticeship, you will be working towards a Level 3 qualification that is tailored to the particular setting in which you are working.
