At Kingstone Academy Trust we are seeking an experienced Bursar to join us in September 2025, or earlier if possible.
The Bursar is responsible for managing the financial functions of our Schools, including Management Accounts and Budgeting; they will advise on and implement the day-to-day financial support that enables the School to operate effectively and efficiently, and that allows other members of the leadership team to focus on teaching, learning and business operations.
As a member of the Core Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will work closely with Kingstone Academy Trust Central Team (CEO, Headteachers, Business and Operations Manager, Finance and HR teams), providing strategic leadership and operational direction to the Academy’s management of finance, resources and human resources.
The successful applicant will be highly organised with the ability to lead by example. Candidates must be driven, proactive and committed to the success of the Academy and to making a difference to young people’s lives. You will need to be motivated, have excellent communication and organisation skills, have a flexible and calm approach, with a sense of humour, and be able to respond to the needs of the Academy.
The role is for 3 days per week, on a full-time basis, however for the right candidate we are happy to be flexible to a term-time only period if that was preferred.
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Are an experienced Bursar, or have had similar roles in operational management of finance, payroll, contract management and HR.
- Have competent financial skills to manage the school budget, and understand and analyse data.
- An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and confident in working with a wide range of stakeholders, both within the Academy and wider agencies.
Benefits of working at Kingstone Academy Trust include:
- Full support for your professional development and future training needs.
- A commitment to recognise previous, continuous service.
- A generous holiday allowance which rises after 5 years of service.
- A commitment to offer flexible working whenever we can and to support the work life balance of our employees.
- A 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
- A wellbeing day, on top of your A/L entitlement, that can be used at any point within the Academic year.
- Free parking on site.
Kingstone Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
