Job Vacancy - Clerk to Fownhope Parish Council
Fownhope is a large, busy parish in Herefordshire, located on the banks of the river Wye and designated a National Landscape (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Fownhope has a population of circa 1000 and an award winning parish council of 12 councillors. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated parish clerk with a desire to foster strong connections with the parish.
The role:
- Providing administrative support to the council, including; preparing agendas & taking minutes of parish council meetings, being the primary liaison point between the council and other external organisations and parishioners, preparing reports.
- Fulfilling the roles of Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer for the council
The person:
- Holds a Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) or is willing to study for the qualification within the first 12 months of employment
- Previous administration and financial administration experience
- Ability to accurately record minutes of meetings
- Strong customer service skills, approachable and responsive
- Organised and able to prioritise multiple tasks to meet required deadlines
- A good standard of spoken and written English (telephone manner, emails,letters, reports and meeting minutes)
- Competent in the use of computer systems e.g. email, work processing, spreadsheets, internet & social media
This is a permanent, part time role, 14 hours per week, working from home with attendance required within the parish for parish council meetings and other ad hoc meetings and events. This will include some evening and weekend work.
