Physiotherapist/Multidisciplinary Therapy Team Lead

c. 37.5 hours per week, over 5 days, Monday to Friday

(Some flexibility in days & hours/we may consider part-time &/or job-share)

A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Physiotherapist to join the Trust.

The role provides professional advice, assessment, care planning and review for 28 residents across 2 homes, which provide lifelong care for people with Profound and Multiple Learning and Physical Disabilities.

The successful candidate will provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management to residents with a learning disability and complex needs. The Physiotherapist will work in collaboration with each individual resident, their network of care, mainstream health services and the multidisciplinary team to enhance, optimise and maintain their physical presentation, function and quality of life.

You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary therapy team, alongside an Occupational Therapist, Speech, Audiology & Language Therapist, Complementary Therapist and Music Therapist; and will have a Physiotherapy Assistant to support you at each home. We are ideally looking for someone to act as a Lead for this experienced and dedicated therapy team; reporting to our Registered Manager.

The multidisciplinary therapy team works in collaboration with a well-resourced, experienced and skilled workforce of nurses, nursing associates and carers to deliver complex, individualised, holistic care to residents of all ages.

The homes are well resourced with state-of-the-art equipment and environments, which are conducive to health and wellbeing; and are well-staffed to provide a range of care and therapies to motivate, stimulate and keep the residents safe.

You will need to have a recognised degree in Physiotherapy (MSc, or BSc in Physiotherapy, with a Learning Disability placement) and current registration/active membership of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). In addition, you must be prepared to design and deliver therapy programmes, using our own in-house therapy pools and trampolines and provide training to colleagues.

You will be given a high degree of autonomy, independence and authority in your personal delivery of the role, within your professional boundaries. You will therefore have a degree of freedom to be creative in how you respond to challenges and manage yourself and the role. You will need to be experienced, confident, self-aware and competent in your practice.

In addition, you will be expected to demonstrate and commit to continual professional
development, with a strong desire to make a difference to people with a learning disability.

For the MDT Lead role, you will also need to demonstrate previous experience in leading and supervising a team; including managing conduct, performance and attendance, with support from our HR Manager and Registered Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique environment with a supportive team, whose common goal is to provide exemplary care and empower our residents to lead fulfilled lives.

To apply with a full CV and covering letter (including salary expectation), please email Pat Pahal - HR Manager: pat@marthatrusthereford.org.uk, by 12 noon on 22 October 2024.

Face-to-face panel interviews will be held in November 2024 in Hereford.
