Job details
The Governors and Headteacher are seeking to appoint an inspirational and talented HLTA to work with our EAL students in the class environment, with small groups and on a one to one basis. EAL students are those that are learning English as an additional language but already speak fluently in one or more other languages
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can support our students with EAL and a passion for supporting students to achieve their best possible outcomes. The ability to speak a second language would be helpful, but is not essential. The successful candidate will also be expected to help settle students with EAL into their new school environment.
This is an exciting time to join us as part of our journey as we aspire and develop to be an ‘Outstanding’ School.

- Direct group activities within and away from the classroom
- Support the teacher in the assessment, recording, and reporting of students’ progress.
- Provide regular feedback to the teacher and, where relevant, the SENCO on the participation and progress of students.
Successful applicants will be:
- Enthusiastic, creative and dynamic putting the needs of each student first.
- Fluent English and/or a good level of English.
- A calm patient and caring individual.
- Have the ability to analyse students’ learning needs, encourage, motivate and support them to overcome barriers to learning; having high expectations of student achievement whilst enabling students to become independent learners and develop positive behaviours. You should be able to work in a team, be flexible and have a positive attitude.
- Resilient and adaptable team players.
- Reflective practitioners willing to take an active role in the wider life of the school.
- Excellent communicators who can inspire both students and staff.
- Support the ethos of the school and work collaboratively and supportively with other colleagues.
