Outdoor Intervention Practitioner
To start September 2025
Fixed Term Contract one year
Salary: Unqualified Teacher/MPS/UPS
Starting Point: Depending on experience
Herefordshire Pupil Referral Service (HPRS) in partnership with Herefordshire Council are excited to announce a new intervention provision to support pupils in mainstream education across the county. This new role will work as part of the expanding Outdoor Learning Team, based at our new site at Blakemere Farm. As the Outdoor Practitioner, you will work alongside the Deputy Head of Service to drive forward a high-quality alternative learning provision to support pupils from all over the county.
We provide a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment in which young people can grow as responsible, independent and self-confident learners.
This is an exciting opportunity for an educator from a formal or informal background who has experience or interest in working with young people in the outdoors. The role will involve working in a small team to facilitate high quality learning opportunities in the outdoor environment, as well supporting the personal and social development of the pupils involved.
Pupils will be attending one or two days a week and working towards nationally recognised awards and qualifications.
Experience of working in a PRU setting would be advantageous but not essential. We are looking for someone with a passion for outdoors, someone who is approachable, reflective, calm and cares about the disadvantaged.
Our aim is to re-engage our pupils in learning and to provide them with high-quality learning opportunities where they can develop their skills in a safe and secure environment.
You must be:
· Organised and able to professionally communicate with key stakeholders.
· Comfortable with working outdoors and passionate about supporting young people.
· A problem solver and able to work on your own initiative, as well as work within a small team environment.
· Committed to ensuring all students reach their potential
· Able to recognise opportunities and face challenges, whilst maintaining your sense of humour and care for young people.
· Capable of promoting partnerships and collaborative working.
· A role model for our students and staff.

Closing date: Monday 9th June 2025
Interviews: Thursday 17th June 2025
HPRS is committed to the protection and safety of its pupils and therefore all candidates will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at Enhanced Level.
