Required for 1st September 2024
We are looking for an energetic, talented, ambitious and positive class teacher with a passionate belief in the limitless potential of young people to join our lovely village school.
This post is for a full-time class teacher. Longtown Community Primary School is a happy, warm and successful school of 62 children taught in three mixed age classes and includes a growing Pre-School on site. We are situated in the centre of the village of Longtown nestling on the edge of the beautiful Black Mountains and with easy access on major roads from Hereford and Abergavenny. Children are welcoming, enthusiastic and engaged both in lessons and in the many after school activities and trips. There is a thriving PTA, frequent interaction with the local community and great parental support for the school. Longtown works closely with the five Golden Valley primary schools and Fairfield High School.
The Ofsted report of 2018 spoke of the school’s personal approach and positive nurturing environment, where ‘everyone strives to be their very best’. We have very recently undergone a one-day, ungraded inspection. We are currently waiting for the final report which will be published on our website as soon as possible.
We are looking for someone with excellent leadership, teaching, organisation and communication skills to continue to move the school forward into the next stage of its development.
The vacancy will be available from 1st September 2024 although we are happy to consider applications from teachers who would be available at a later date.
Longtown Community Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
